Chugiak Community Council Comments
To sum it up, Chugiak Eagle River had its own ladder truck built for them with a grant procured by Sen. Rick Halford 15 years ago,
3 years later, at the fire at Moose Horn, the ladder truck was burned and damaged. The MOA then replaced our ladder truck with a reserve ladder truck from Anchorage.
The MOA Fire Chief is now removing this reserve ladder truck back to the MOA. He is replacing it with a pump truck. The replacement was over objections of our community and both of our municipal assembly representatives.
Further, The fire station 13 is the Highland reserve station. It was also purchased under a grant.
The MOA Chief was looking for funding for a new training tower and decided to sell the Highland station.
CERRRBSA (Chugiak Eagle River Rural Road Board Service Area) Requested the assets be transferred for the use of storing gravel for a quicker response time.
The MOA fire chief said no, but indicated CERRBSA could buy it for $300,000.
On 08/06/2019, CERRBSA discovered the MOA will not be selling the station and CERRRBSA can not use it either.
